DESCRIPTION:Listen\n        \n        Working with the Media – A Course for Rural First Responders \nNo prior coursework needed. \nRead the training flyer \nSign up by August 30 at this Registration Link \nA FEMA Student ID is required to attend this class – register at  https://cdp.dhs.gov/femasid \nAWR 209 is a DHS/FEMA-certified\, 7-hour\, tuition-free course designed to provide rural first responders with the skills and knowledge to quickly adopt the role of public information officer (PIO) if/when needed and to communicate with the public through the media. Many rural first responder organizations do not have a full or part-time PIO on staff. Therefore\, in the event that a first responder is thrust into the role of PIO\, whether it be roadside at the scene of an emergency or detailing directions to the public in a crisis situation\, it is important to understand how the media works and how to work with the available media outlets. SUMMARY:ICS-300 Intermediate ICS for Expanding Incidents
DESCRIPTION:Listen\n        \n        The Incident Command System (ICS) is the national standard to manage emergency incidents and critical events\, and is a key component of NIMS. This course expands upon the information covered in ICS 100 and ICS 200 courses and is for personnel who require advanced application of the Incident Command System. The course will satisfy state training requirements for incident responders and will fulfill the prerequisite for attendance in higher-level ICS courses (ICS 400). As part of NIMS compliance requirements\, Delaware requires all personnel that are likely to assume a supervisory role in expanding incidents or Type 3 (or higher) incidents attend this level course. \nThe primary audience is response personnel\, regardless of discipline\, who may be required to fill a supervisor\, director\, chief\, or command role within the Incident Command System during larger incidents.
